Small Town Smakk
It's just amazing to me how small town business is so different to larger cities. I'm down in Shreveport today, which I never really considered a "small town", since there are 200,000 people living here. (On a side note - the population is 54% female in case any of you need that advantage LRod.) So one of my employees takes me on a sales call to a new client. On the way there I ask about how he got this new business. He explains that the main contact is a young man that we helped find a previous job for after his mother contacted us who was a high school friend of my employee. While on the call, they reminisce on mom winning the beauty pageant 20 years ago, talk about the sister's new job in Tulsa, the sister's husband successful bout with cancer a few years ago, etc, etc. I was fully expecting to hear about whatever the pets had been doing lately but the conversation was cut short (after an hour) when another vendor of the client came for an appointment. Of course, my employee also knew this guy from the other vendor, so we got another half hour in updates about the construction going on by his house, the new truck he recently got, etc, etc.
With 2 more sakes calls on my schedule later today, I fully expect to be flipping through yearbooks and watching slide shows before my day ends here.
